How do I apply and what is the selection process?

Internship recruitment process
Step 1. To apply please click on the link below. The link will then take you to a specific website to apply directly online. Please follow the online application process as requested. If you do not meet the selection criteria you will be advised by email that you have been unsuccessful.

Step 2. If you meet the selection criteria you will be contacted by phone, within two weeks applications closing, and asked a series of competency based questions to identify your suitability for the role and commitment to the organisation.

Step 3. Subject to meeting these criteria you will then be invited to complete three online ability tests of verbal, numerical and diagrammatical reasoning.

Step 4. Upon successful completion of these assessments you will be required to complete an online Occupational Personality Questionnaire followed by an opportunity to meet your potential manager or work colleague at an informal meet and greet. Pre-employment checks (criminal history, medical assessment, including drug and alcohol and referee) will also be conducted.

Step 5. Offers will be made to successful candidates.

When do the Internships start?

There are a number of different entry point to join the RailCorp intern program. For the engineering and business intakes there are two Internship intakes every year. The first for a December/January start, the second for a July/August start.

For the Customer Service intern program (Reference Number: Intern 08/01), there is a November start date.
